Bucs to Play in London in 2009; Tampa Bay Loses Home Game

The NFL has announced the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be taking on the New England Patriots in London on October 25, 2009. The Bucs have been named as the home team and therefore, will only play seven regular season games at Raymond James Stadium. Adding in the travel in the middle of the season, is this a good deal for the Bucs? Call me a skeptic of the benefits the NFL thinks these international games have.

mid season is better than at the begining

Look at the Lightning situation in the NHL and you an see how horridly a foreign opening factored into all the changes the team had gone through during the off season.

Didn’t the Giants have a game in London last season? Didn’t exactly ruin things for them… So, in the end, it really just depends on where the team is at before they leave home. It could become an excuse more than a true hindrance in the end.

I don't see it ruining the entire season...

…I just don’t see the point and would rather see the Bucs get another home game then have this LONG road trip.

Its just irritating to be the team ripped of a home game.

3rd year in London = 3rd team from non-major market (ok, Miami stunk that year even though they’re not a small market) getting ripped a home game off the schedule. I’d like to see them take a home game from the Giants, Pats, or Packers. Of course, that would never fly, so let the rest of the league suffer.

The Giants’ analogy is misplaced. They didn’t win the Super Bowl because they played in London, nor does it show it wasn’t tough on the team to go play over there. If anything, they won in spite of having to travel to London. Strahan and other Giants complained of the long trip and subsequent layover.

Also, if the NFL is looking to spread their product overseas as they claim…… is London the only option? Shouldn’t they be shooting for other markets. It all seems wierd to me.

Cannons... fire them.

Sorry to hear it

Stopping by from CSR, but I don’t wish this on any team. Sorry to hear it. But I suppose better you than us.

But you are right jpfdeuce, the Giants did play there in 2007.

MONDAY NIGHT COMES FIRST

Ive been waiting for this moment, all my life, oh lord
Can you feel it coming in the air Monday night, oh lord, oh lord

Well, if you told me you were sacked
I would not lend a hand
Ive seen your yhelmet and jerseys before my bruthas
But I dont care if you care who I am
Well, I was there in Raymond James when we kicked that field goal to win
I saw it with my own two eyes
So you can wipe off the blood, I know your QB lost his splein
You are all just a pack of flies!

I'm all for cheering on your team...

…but don’t hijack every post. This has nothing to do with the Bucs game in London next year. We get it. You’re a Panthers fan, but you don’t have to comment about next week’s game on posts that have nothing to do with it.
