RUMOR ALERT: Monte Kiffin to Tennessee
Sources are saying on Monday, Lane Kiffin will be announced as the next head coach of the Tennessee Volunteers. It looks like he might look to bring Monte - our favorite defensive coordinator - with him. At this point in his career, it seems like Kiffin leaving the Bucs would be nothing but talk, but the idea of coaching with his son may be enough to convince him. We'll keep you updated.

Word on the street
is that Lane is feeling out Orgeron for the D Coordinator position, which is obviously a good sign for Monte staying put.
Cannons... fire them.

I'm seeing that same thing...
…that could be very good news for us.

That's a reach
Lane’s been sought after as HC for several college programs since his firing sacrifice by the hands of Al Davis. “Word on the street” suddenly trumps news reports for weeks on end?
It’s wishful thinking to expect Lane to take anything less than a HC job.
As for Monte leaving – it’s possible. It’s also possible (but not likely) the Bucs would chase after Rod Marinelli to take over as DC after he gets the ax in Detroit.

I think you read it as I did at first...
…it’s not “Lane is feeling out Oregon to be their D-coordinator.” It’s “Lane is talking to Ed Orgeron to possibly join him at Tennessee as the Vols D-coordinator.”

I think you missed the obvious point
of Kiffin, as Vol HC, looking at Orgeron as his D-Coordinator at the University of Tennessee. Any questions? Are we clear?

kiffin leaving
i really don’t think we’ll see kiffin leave as long as he’s a coach. we hear this year in and year out and every year he stays! he loves Tampa and always will its warm and hes a god ! plus if your going to retire soon wheres better good ol’ Tennessee or tropical Florida ? So sorry lane better just make your own name and not rest in your fathers image!!

We do hear it every year and every year he stays...
…so we got that going for us. I’m just not sure he doesn’t take this final chance to join his son. Obviously, I don’t want him to go anywhere.

I'm with the 420bucsfan on this one. There isn't a year that goes by that someone says Monte is leaving.
Even though his own son is taking over at Tennessee, I see mostly negatives for Monte Kiffin leaving. Mainly the money factor. The elder Kiffin would have to literally give up millions to go to UT. Plus he is up in age and happy here coupled with the fact that he just signed an extention in January tells me that there is no way we lose our beloved DC.

Kiffin Leaving
It is a done deal. Money is not an issue for this guy. He wants to spend time with his grandchildren and family. Ogre will be defensive line coach and recruiting coordinator so Lane bringing him has no bearing on Monte. Ogre will learn under Monte to run the Tampa 2. Monte will retire within 3-5 years.
