Monte
Any thoughts on the possibility of Monte following son Lane to Knoxville to coach the Vols? UT fans, like SEC fans in general, have a tendency to go overboard on expectations. I think it was pretty obvious Gruden was never going to go back to college when he has a pretty sweet deal in the pros. I think Monte going is unlikely as well. I just wondered what if anything is being said in Buc country.

I'm a Tennessee fan
and I just don’t see it. Monte makes a hefty sum for a defensive coordinator and he’s still as effective as he has been for several years. Knoxville has agreed in principle to sign Lane to a contract, but I’m wondering if it will play out if Monte stays with the Bucs. It’s one thing to be able to say I coached with his son, but it’s the NFL. The money’s probably not even close.
I am not convinced that Lane Kiffin is the answer. He’s got great pedigree, but so did Mike Shula at Alabama. We all know how that turned out. Throw in his dad, however, and I’m pumped!!

I’d be surprised if he didn’t go. He’s at the end of his coaching career, he’s always wanted to coach with his son. I think he would have gone to Oakland if Al didn’t have a mancrush on Rob Ryan.
I don’t think it’ll be about the money, its about helping his son re-establish himself as a head coach after the Oakland debacle.
Personally, as a Gator fan, I’m very sad to see Phil Fulmer go…
