Vikings vs Bucs questionnaire

Hi Bucs fans!
What's up??

I have a few questions regarding tailgating, things to do, and places to eat in your beautiful city of Tampa.

My girlfriend and I are coming down in November to see our Vikes play your Bucs.
In addition to being a long time season ticket holder of the Vikings, I travel once a year to see the Vikes get beat on the road.
Er…I mean, to see the Vikes PLAY on the road.
Whatever.
I have wanted to visit Raymond James since they opened it. It looks like a great place to see live football.
I also have been a big Bucs follower due to them being in the old Central division.
I was rooting for the Bucs when they made the Superbowl as well.

I will be staying in Tampa and Clearwater for 4 to 5 days and would like some advice as to what to do and where to go.
I have a bunch of questions for you, so here we go:

#1 - Where should we park to tailgate at Raymond James Stadium?
What price range will it be?
Do we need a parking pass to tailgate?

#2 - Is there anything inside (or by) the ship (inside RJS) that we should go see?
Have any of you been on a RJS Tour?
Would you recommend it?

#3 - What are some good restaurants in Tampa and Clearwater that you would recommend? I would like all of your favorites…Cheap places as well as steakhouses. I would like to try a few of them!

#4 - What is a good local bar to go to? I am too old for clubs. I like unique places, places that stand out, or pubs with nice beer selections.

#5 - What are some good live local bands that play around?
I like rock music. Pretty much all types of rock, alternative, pop, funky, whatever.
What about a good venue to see them play live?

#6 - Where is the best vantage point of the Tampa Skyline? What about a bar patio with a great view?

#7 - What are the best beaches to visit?

#8 - Bloody Mary's and breakfast. Who makes the best bloody Mary, and what are some good breakfast joints?

#9 - Are there any "Best of Tampa" sites or links that you could tell me about?

#10 - Anything else that you would recommend an out-of-towner to see or do?

Thank you all VERY MUCH for your help.

The night life you will find in Ybor City

which I believe isn’t too far from the stadium. I moved away over a decade ago but I imagine things haven’t changed that much.

Well thank you for spending your money here!

1. Voted the best beaches in the United States are Fort DeSoto in Saint Petersburg and Caladesi Island in Dunedin. My favorite beach is Passagrille which is a stone’s throw from Fort DeSoto. You can make a day of it by snorkling, taking the ferry to Shell Key and check out the dolphins. While your there you can go shell collecting (hense the name). No matter what you can’t go wrong with ANY of the beaches in Pinellas County!

2. Go to the Hard Rock Casino off of I75. Great restaurants inside too (I recommend Floyds or the Fresh Market. If you go to International Plaza right by the stadium there are some greats restaurants there too (try Roy’s for a great steak). Other places such as J. Alexander’s, Fleming’s or Bern’s Steak House are very popular (and very expensive).

3. I am not sure what’s going on as far as bands when the Vikings come to town, but Ford’s Amphitheater in Tampa and Demon’s Landing in St. Pete are some good spots. It goes without saying to check out the historic Ybor City as mentioned above. You can’t come to Tampa and not go to Ybor. If that’s not your style, check out any number of places along the beaches in Pinellas County. Jimmy Iguana’s in Indian Rocks Beach is cool and Clearwater Beach is a can’t miss party spot. Try Shephard’s on Clearwater Beach for a pretty good breakfast buffet. John’s Pass in Madeira Beach is a tourist favorite, but they are doing construction there right now.

4. As far as the game goes, there is no exact science or pregame places that I care to party at. Just find yourself a nice lot and do what you do best…I hope you enjoy your stay here and who knows? Maybe you’ll end up being one of the millions of transplants we have here in this beautiful town. ENJOY!!!

I forgot to mention in Pinellas check out the St. Pete Pier, Central Ave Bars, Fergs Sports Bar, Salvadore Dali Musuem....

In Tampa go to the Florida Aquarium, MOSI, Busch Gardens, Adventure Island. Check out beer being brewed (Yuelingling Brewery) and cigars being made in Ybor. Too bad you guys will just miss Guavaween in Ybor because it is the ish! And try Miguel’s on W. Kennedy for good lunch. Or Maggiano’s off of WestShore. That’s it, I’m tapped out. I’m sure there’s more to do, but unless your staying gor awhile, I think I got ya covered.

By the way, here is a great website for Pinellas Countyto pour over:

I totally appreciate all of your responses!
This will help my trip out quite a bit.
There are some places and ideas that I never knew of until your post.

THANK YOU BUCCANEER FANS!!!
You are a classy bunch.

Good Luck to your Bucs for the rest of the year with the exception to the Vikes game…I dont thing that they need any luck with that one!

Try a Cuban sandwich and deviled crab from Brocato’s.. they are dynamite!

Charley’s is a great place to grab a nice steak dinner and is highly renowned. I try to go there every year for my anniversary.

Barnacles in Brandon is a great place to watch the College games on Saturday. It’s owned by John Smoltz and has a ridiculous number of TVs. Also good seafood if that is your thing.

There is always a great live concert going on in St. Pete at Jannus Landing (all types of music) so check out their schedule to see who’s playing. Also, in Tampa Skipper’s Smokehouse is a cool little dive to see live shows as well (usually acoustic/bluegrass).

I hope that this post helps you plan your trip!

FOOD AND MUSIC

Go to the SILVER RING for the best CUBAN SANDWICHES and SPANISH food made daily and its all good. BLACKBEANS AND RICE WITH PORK is my favorite. If ya wanna see some great local ROCK and ALTERNATIVE music live from our ever increasing talented music scene go to the BRASS-MUG. All original music and its a good place to drink a cold beer and jam-out. There`s several clubs in YBOR CITY to check out that have live music too. Have fun bro but I gotta tell ya, hope you lose the game!
