Buccaneers S Jermaine Phillips broke his arm against Dallas Cowboys
Tampa Bay Buccaneers S Jermaine Phillips may have broke his arm in Sunday's demoralizing loss to the Dallas Cowboys. He left the game in the first half. Sabby Piscitelli will have to carry the load in Phillips absence. There hasnt been an official word on Phillips status, but Defensive Coordinator Monte Kiffin pretty much said it all:
"We're going to miss him," Kiffin said. "But that's why we have Sabby Piscitelli. He'll do good. He's got to come through for us. And we've got Will Allen. He's got to be ready to rotate now" - from Stephen Holder of the St. Pete Times
That's a huge blow to this defense. Jermaine Phillips was easily having his best season in a Bucs jersey. He has an interception, several huge hits, and a fumble return for a touchdown thus far into the season. Sabby Piscitelli has played very well when called upon this season whether it be on Special Teams or on defense by contributing a forced fumble, an interception, and several hard hits of his own. He and Tanard Jackson really have to up their game in order for this defense to shoulder the loss of Jermaine Phillips.

Phillips will be missed...
…but this is a great chance to see what Sabby can do. Obviously not happy about losing Phillips, but excited about seeing more of Piscitelli.

I think this will actually improve the defense. While Phillips is a good safety I believe Piscitelli has the chance to be great. He is better in coverage, faster, and hits equally as hard. Phillips was better against the run but we have great LB for that. Piscitelli will prove to be an upgrade over what was a very good safety.

this is 'THE TEST' for
Sabby. Jermaine becomes a free agent this off-season so its on The Italian Stallion to make the Bucs let Phillips walk… That alone should make the second half of the season very interesting, as well as the attributes you alluded to Sabby bringing to the table…
I just hope an injury doesnt stunt Sabby’s opportunity…
