couldn't find anything worth a damn out there so i thought i would just vent:

  1. why are the bucs so intent on trying to win now. to me the bucs biggest problem is the aging of the team, so i don't understand the jeff garcia and jake plummer, and jeramy stevens signings. why dont the bucs do what the 49ners did and re-built the team through the draft and poor veteran signings.
  2. Why does it seem like the bucs gave up on chris simms, i still remember the washington game, when i really turned it around... so what does the team see in him that i don't. (probably alot i mean i havent taken a shower with the dude or anyting) but seriously come on...wtf
to sum things up. i dont understand this offseason for the bucs at all! [editor's note, by kmac68k12] ncaa football 2008 is the greatest game i have ever played, forget madden, this is the real stuff. http://xbox360.ign.com/objects/890/890431.html

Contend now and save his job
Gruden and Allen (aka Grullen) have been committed to the "Win now" idea because they want to keep their jobs.  The Bucs have only made the playoffs 2 out of Gruden's 6 seasons in Tampa Bay.  His first with Dungy and McKay's team (and the super bowl ring) and 2005 by backing in.

The fans are impatient, the franchise is waiting for the promises of glory that they foresaw when they gave Grullen carte blanche over the Bucs roster.  Nothing positive has happened to be honest.  First round picks have faded on offense, the defense has aged due to neglect and lack of off-season focus...

And Jon Gruden is never happy with a Quarterback unless it's a VETERAN quarterback.  Keyshawn Johnson said it best during the draft that Gruden's favorite quarterback of all time is Rich Gannon.  EVERY Buccaneer QB that has played under Gruden has been judged by that measuring stick.  It's part of the reason Gruden has no time or love for rookies (except in extreme circumstances like last season) and younger players (IE Simms).

Fans complain about Simms problem throwing over the line of scrimmage and yet that is a coaching problem more than Chris' fault.  Why wasn't Simms dropping back further to remedy the situation?  Why was a dummy with it's hands up employed instead of just telling Simms to drop back further?

It's stupidity and ego.  Gruden must be right and if the QB isn't ready made, than f'em.

The Bucs need to rebuild and Gruden needs to learn patience.  That's not going to happen though, and that's going to lead to his demise in Tampa.
